Maybe you have done volunteerwork with one of the projects of Ecole or you know somebody who has been in Ecuador and worked with the projects. Or maybe you are just interested in contributing a bit to some very interesting projects in this beautiful country. On this part of the website we mention the projects that are looking for funds for a specific part of their project. You can let us know when you are interested in contributing to one of these projects and we will make sure that the money or the goods that you are contributing arrive at the right spot.

FUNDACIÓN CAMINO ESPECIAL

Camino Especial is a centre for physical and mental handicapped people. The centre started because there is still not enough social and labor integration for young people and adults with any kind of handicap. Camino Especial organizes days for handicapped people, so that they can be taken out of their sometimes miserable circumstances and integrate in social life. These days are also organized for poor children en poor old people. Besides that Camino Especial has a centre where handicapped people can paint and make other creative products. These products will be sold so the handicapped people can receive a little income.

Camino Especial has contacted Ecole Travel as they need help financing the following products. The idea is to buy the products locally in small stores so that the economy is also stimulated!

- Painting classes: Camino especial organizes special painting classes in their foundation. In order to give these classes they buy different materials every month, such as paint, paper, beads, plastic and brushes. Every months they spent about $90.00 on these materials. If you would like to contribute to these materials, please contact Annet directly, so she can give you more info!

- Workshop: Camino Especial has a small workshop where people make their own resources, such as adapted chairs for children with a motoric handicap or crotches. For this workshop the spent an average of $100.00 every month on wood, nails, thinner, paint, etc. If you would like to contribute to these materials, please contact Annet directly, so she can give you more info!

- Administration: More and more people at the foundation need to use the computer. Not only the account working at the foundation, but also the new person volunteering to gather funds. For this reason the foundation is in need of another computer. Ecole Travel has agreed to donate this computer to the foundation!

Camino Especial asks all parents of the participants for a small contribution, that covers a part of the costs of teachers, transport and lunch. Three children need help of sponsors to cover this contribution:

NAME: Luis Fabricio

LAST NAME: Muncha Cofre

DATE OF BIRTH: 31-03-1993

DIAGNOSIS: Partially mentally disabled

Luis is a 15 year old boy who untill recently went to a school for special education. He had to leave this school for different reasons, first of all he reached his maximum and couldn´t develop any further. Alsot he had some problems with his classmates and didn´t feel like going to school anymore. Luis lives with his parents, who are already nearly sixty. They went looking for an other centre where they could send their son, so that he wouldn´t have to stay at home all day and he could learn to be as independent as possible, which is necessary as his parent are getting older.

Luis needs financial support of $30 a month.

NAME: Alexandra Elizabeth

LAST NAME: Tucta Zambrano                   

DATE OF BIRTH: 24 -08 -1983

DIAGNOSIS: High mentally disabled, with autistic characteristics.

Alexandra is a 25 years old,  young lady. Her parents don´t know the exact diagnose of their daughter because the doctors never where very clear about it, which is something that happens a lot in Ecuador.

As a child Alexandra received different kinds of therapy, but after her father invested a big amount of money in an expensive treatment, he was ripped off and lost his money. After that Alexandra hasn´t got any therapy since the age of 18, and she stays at home the whole day. Her mother is very protective of Alexandra and she doesn´t like it when some else takes care of her. This is the reason why her mother is stressed. Alexandra is coming to the art-studio since a few months, this gives her mother some rest and time to do things for herself.

Alexandra needs financial support of $30 a month.

NAME: Jordy

LAST NAME: Córdova

DATE OF BIRTH: 8 – 04 - 1993

DIAGNOSIS: Low mentally disabled.

Jordy is a 15 year old boy with language problems and a learning disorder. Until July 2007 he went to a school for special education. His parents didn´t know where to send their son after leaving the school and Jordy had to stay at home. A doctor from Jordy´s old school gave the advice to send him to a centre where he could learn practical skills, because his learning skills reach their maximum. In March 2008 Jordy came to the art-workshop, where he has been participating for the past 5 months and he is doing really well.

Jordy needs financial support of $ 30 a month.
